Lights streaking across the sky have awed and inspired people from the beginning of humankind. With the advance of the space age less than 50 years ago, more than 2,500 man-made objects now orbit earth, including one of the most visible (with astonauts aboard)... ISS, the International Space Station. See where ISS is at any moment in time using NASA's Space Station Locator.
For a very unique, three-dimensional view of a myriad of satellites orbiting earth, NASA's J-Track 3D is a must see. Click on the white dots 'in space' to plot a satellite's orbit. Try different options by clicking 'View', 'Satellite', and 'Options' in the menu.
Advanced users and avid amateur astronomers may wish to try the J-Pass 2.0 for viewable satellite paths. Enter your geographical coordinates via Zip Code or location and the current time to learn where to point your eyes or telescope.
