The Museum's historical collections contain both significant and extensive examples of 19th century agricultural, industrial, and household life. Farm implements, tools of yesteryear, horse-drawn vehicles, household objects, toys and dolls, costumes and textiles, memorabilia, archival photographs, diaries, and records of community history are among the Museum's holdings. Many of the Museum's rural history artifacts are products of local natural resources made with local ingenuity.
Fairbanks scales and other ironworks produced by the Fairbanks Scale Factory comprise an important part of the historical collections. Delicate apothecary scales, postal scales, doctors' scales and hay scales are among the items included. Box stoves and Civil War stirrups are some of the other products produced by the company.
